Mormons are not only raising money for Proposition 8. They are also actively involved in “on the ground” political action hoping to affect November’s election. Personal blogs around the country are urging folks to donate to protectmarriage.com and are sharing stories about individual’s efforts to walk precincts and call likely voters. The Mormon Plan for Political Action
Gary Lawrence is their “State Grass Roots Area Director. This website lays out the general “game plan” for working for Proposition 8, including:
Phase One: Identifying Pro-Prop 8 voters, by going door to door or making phone calls.
Phase Two: Advocacy and Persuasion–giving people reasons to vote for Prop. 8.
Phase Three: Getting out the vote–finding 100,000 volunteers so that 5 people can be stationed at each polling place to find out who has voted and to contact those who have said they are Pro-Prop 8 if they haven’t already voted.
